The cathedral itself is a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance styles and contains many precious artworks from the era; as well as being an important place for Catholics， it also has links with Belgian national hero Leopold of Austria who lived here when he helped to form what became modern day Belgium. There are guided tours available which last around one hour during peak times or you can just wander round on your own if that suits better！

Castle of Gaasbeek， part of the Royal ReserveGaasbeek castle dates back over centuries and although not open all year round due to restoration works currently taking place there will still be plenty to see once inside！ Located about half way between Brussels and Antwerp， this lovely country estate makes great day trip destination – particularly if combined with visiting nearby Leuven， home town to the famous University (see below).

The Botanical Gardens，LeuvenThese beautiful gardens were created by Jesuits back in the late eighteenth century after they discovered some local soil contained rare minerals useful for cultivating plants！ They contain several interesting displays including a large collection of plants from various parts of Africa and South America among other things！ A nice relaxing spot close to campus but don’t forget that you could easily spend a couple of hours wandering through the gardens so plan accordingly！
